If you do, then who would be allowed? 6) What are your opinions on how some of the health care providers acted?
I started watching this movie and realized that I have seen it before, but wanted to watch it again. I like how the movie is from how she is seeing things and she is interacting with the audience by talking to the camera. If I was asked to participate in the study, I am not sure if I would want to do it because why go through all that pain for it to not work. If I did go through the treatment, I would not want anyone to visit me because I would not want people to see me in pain and not looking my best. I believe some of the health care providers could be more compassionate, but I understand that their job is to treat many patients. My favorite healthcare provider was the nurse because even though she had other patients she still took the time to see how Vivian was doing and made sure she was as comfortable as she could be in her situation.
I really enjoyed this this movie overall. After I graduate, I would love to work on the pediatric oncology floor at Children's Hospital. This movie enforced my decision because I want to be the Nurse that makes a difference for cancer patients. When I saw how some of the health care providers acted toward her, it really bugged me. They were very insensitive of her emotions, feelings, and her dignity. This also shows me that I want to be an oncology nurse because I want to make the patients happy and comfortable during their hard times. If I was in Vivian's position, I am not sure what I would do. I do not think I would go through it, but if I did, I would have stopped after a couple rounds. You could tell Vivian was getting too sick from it, but she wanted to still be seen as strong, so she continued the treatment. I think the doctors put her through too much treatment just for the sake of the study instead of her well being - even the nurse caught this. If I was in Vivian's position, would definitely allow visitors, but only a select few. I would allow my parents, my siblings, and my boyfriend - but I do not think Vivian had any friends or family that she was close with.
